Young members of a hospital trust’s youth participation group have designed a colourful and informative leaflet about the Covid-19 pandemic for children using health services.

The leaflet, produced by the Barts Health Youth Empowerment Squad (YES), gives young people the facts they need to understand Covid-19 in an accessible and vibrant format.

The squad was formed in 2015 to involve young people in how the Barts Health NHS Trust communicate with children and improve patient experiences. Most of its members, aged 11 to 25, have personal experience of hospital or have an ill family member. Others are interested in working in healthcare.

The idea for the leaflet emerged during the first national lockdown. While discussing whether young people were informed about the pandemic, YES realised that there were very few resources available for their age group.
